Ping An Good Doctor Unveils Four Major Medical Technology Achievements at Wuzhen World Internet Conference ‘Black Technology’ Changes People’s Medical Treatment

The Wuzhen Summit of the Fifth World Internet Conference was held on 7 November. As one of the world's most popular internet events, the World Internet Conference brought together the foremost internet and innovative companies to showcase their latest technological advances in the global internet technology arena. Ping An Good Doctor (01833.HK), which owns world’s leading medical technology, set up an unmanned clinic based on the artificial intelligence (AI) technology platform AI Doctor in the central area of the Wuzhen Conference. Providing fast and convenient one-stop medical and health services for guests and the media, it was a focal point of the conference.

At the same time, Ping An Good Doctor showcased four of China's first-ever healthcare technology products at the conference’s Lights of the Internet Expo. The Company’s One-minute Clinics help patients remotely see a doctor, get instant access to medicine, and provide immediate medical services to urban residents; The Smart TCM Diagnosis Pulse-taking Device remotely takes a patient’s pulse, using AI technology to improve traditional Chinese medicine (TCM); the AI-assisted Medical System interacts with patients before outpatient consultations to improve the efficiency of doctors and hospitals; and a smart Bluetooth Earphone could protect users’ hearing. The advanced “black technology” combined with rich application scenarios attracted a large crowd of people who were eager to experience the future of healthcare technology.

 

 

The unmanned clinic was a major highlight

In the main venue at the Wuzhen Conference, an unmanned clinic, measuring three square meters, attracted guests and the media. Users sat down in the unmanned clinic to start a dialogue with the cloud doctor about their symptoms and appropriate examination equipment was used. The patient was then given a preliminary diagnosis. Once the diagnosis was finished, patients can also purchase more than 100 kinds of commonly seen drugs from the nearby smart medicine cabinet.

The unmanned clinic is a new product based on AI healthcare technology developed by Ping An Good Doctor’s One-minute Clinics. It consists of two functional modules: an independent consultation room and a smart medicine cabinet. Inside, the independent consultation room is connected to the thousands of medical personnel of Ping An Good Doctor in-house medical team and AI technology product, AI Doctor.

“When the patient starts the consultation, first, they interact with AI Doctor through the patient's voice and photos. Then, AI Doctor guides the patient to accurately describe the disease, form a structured medical history, and provide an intelligent diagnosis plan for subsequent specialist consultation. After a doctor's consultation, AI Doctor can also be combined with the doctor's corresponding diagnostic structure to issue intelligent prescriptions, which makes the whole consultation smarter and improves the efficiency of the consultation”, the relevant person-in-charge in Ping An Good Doctor expressed.

One-minute Clinics has been piloted in the Wuzhen Scenic Area, at large enterprises and in communities, and it can quickly meet the basic medical health needs of citizens. In the future, One-minute Clinics will be widely used in public service places such as pharmacies, communities, enterprises, schools, scenic spots, shopping malls, and highway service stations.

 

Four healthcare technology products lead the industry

In addition to the highly regarded unmanned clinics, Ping An Good Doctor showcased a number of newly developed healthcare technology products at the Lights of the Internet Expo. For example: a pulse diagnosis instrument that replaces the traditional form of pulse-taking in TCM; an AI-assisted Medical System that assists doctors in consulting a patient; and a smart Bluetooth Earphone with medical hearing protection. These products impressed visitors at the event.

 

The Modern Physician Hua Tuo Project Smart TCM Diagnosis by Pulse-taking device, which was exhibited by Ping An Good Doctor, is the latest R&D product of its traditional Chinese medicine integration with AI. The user puts his wrist in the wristband and waits for 1 minute. The Smart TCM Diagnosis by Pulse-Taking Device can quickly identify the user's pulse. Subsequently, the pulse diagnosis results and graphic data are then automatically transmitted to the Chinese medicine doctor in the system’s cloud to assist the doctor in the diagnosis and treatment. Through AI technology, the Modern Physician Hua Tuo Project is promoting the standardization, informatization and intellectualization of TCM.

The AI-assisted Medical System, which can help doctors consult a patient, is an AI healthcare technology product developed by Ping An Good Doctor for use in offline hospitals. Through the comprehensive connection with the hospital HIS (Information Management System), mobile app, and WeChat public account, the AI-assisted Medical System can effectively collect patient information and input it into the hospital HIS system. During the consultation, the doctor can check the patient’s history illness case in advance and supplement the consultation in a targeted manner. This not only saves time for repeat questions related to patients, but also regulates the path of consultation and avoids the omission of valid information. At present, the AI-assisted Medical System has been applied to nearly 100 Class III Grade A hospitals in China, effectively improving the efficiency and accuracy of doctors' consultations.

As of June 2018, Ping An Good Doctor had accumulated more than 300 million online consulting records, providing a powerful data source for its AI research and development, and submitted a total of 26 AI R&D patent applications. In the future, Ping An Good Doctor will continue to strengthen AI research and development to improve the accuracy and applicability of AI use in medical applications.
